About Us
When you work with Combs, you are not just getting a regular shop that treats you like a number, you are getting a company that treats you like family. We are proud to serve our community for so many years and through those years we have built long-lasting, quality, relationships that span more than just chrome plating and hydraulic repair. Our goal is to provide you with the best quality service and support, but we are also going to be that business that you can turn to for anything.
Our Story
In searching for a reason that I ultimately became a second trip owner, the first trip was textbook. Opportunity to create a workplace environment, in an industry that I had 25 years of experience in, close to home. We are a family-operated unit, and the experience provided me with a plan to reduce my travels as compared to the first 25 years.
The second trip as an owner was following the demise of our selling of the business, to begin with. We actually never completely sold, we retained the land and buildings. Upon a total collapse of trust from within the management of the group that we sold our company to, Susan and I were able to acquire the business model back. You do realize how much you miss seeing what you had built, become demoralized and ignored by people that you had nothing in common with. The management had changed, and we decided to change as well.
I have always been labeled as a Rainmaker. I enjoy being part of a plan that assembles good people with good people. That may sound simple, but good things develop. I learned at an early age the basics of being involved in a family business. My parents operated a small business. The hours never quit, they were always the last to be paid, but they thoroughly enjoyed being around people. They valued the relationships that they built throughout the years. They never met a stranger and they both created an atmosphere for trust.
I always enjoyed the role of being a lineman in football. You realized real quickly, how to do your job. The job was based on allowing others to grab the headlines and touchdowns. The results were winning teams. It all began at the line of scrimmage, regardless of the talent behind you in the backfield.
I know that we are in process of duplicating those same principles. We have assembled a team of good people, good things are developing here. We have continued to pursue opportunities from a different number of industries, in large part due to trust. I have definitely assumed to role of coach, in place of the employer. Our management team is confident that we will back their decisions as we move forward. I have placed my trust in them, and they reflect that atmosphere in our customer relationships. We are not a company that is built upon policies and procedures. Those important tasks are secondary when you build your foundation on trust.
Trust Me, surround yourself with Good People, Good Things will happen !!
